Where Urban Beats Meet Classical Harmony

Grime Opera was a groundbreaking event that celebrated Leicester's vibrant music scene by merging urban Grime with classical music. This unique fusion not only spotlighted the talents of local Grime artists and young Pedestrian musicians, but also redefined the musical landscape.

Grime, starting off in London, has found a special place in the heart of Leicester. Our city's Grime scene has grown, flourished, and made its own mark in the UK. And now, with a 65 piece strong youth orchestra, the LSSO directed by conductor Mike Shaw is set to make an even bigger splash with this musical experiment.

Behind the Music: Tian, Strizzy, Eyez and Max Wheeler

+ Talented Young Pedestrian Musicians

Tian: Meet Tian - a force to be reckoned with in Leicester's Grime scene. With his sharp lyrics and killer flow, he’s not just making music; he’s telling stories that push the boundaries of Grime.

Strizzy: Then we have Strizzy. Energetic, authentic, and all about that real connection with his audience. His tracks capture what it’s like growing up in Leicester and have struck a chord with many.

Eyez: Hailing from Derby, Eyez is one of the most exciting names in the UK Grime scene. His raw energy and lyrical prowess add a whole new dimension to the performance.

Max Wheeler: The mastermind behind the original Grime Opera concept, Max from VIP Studio is the glue holding this show together. His expertise in mixing musical genres has shaped this event into something Leicester has never seen before.

“Putting the word grime, next to the word opera, you are going to upset people and there is an element of 'we need to have this conversation”
